Siena Massey has been riding professionally since 2010 with a focus in dressage, eventing, and show jumping. She grew up riding and joined Pony Club in 2003 where it sparked her love for all things horses, on and off the ground. She is currently still an active member in the club; riding, teaching, learning, and holds a 'B' certification. Siena also holds a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University.
When Siena was 16 years old she was approached by Debbie Dewitt to be her working student where she acquired boundless experience riding anything from green/barely broke horses all the way to the Grand Prix level. Through working for Debbie, Siena discovered her love for dressage and eventually worked her way up to achieving her bronze and silver medal in 2016. Currently she is halfway to her gold medal on her 21 year old Welsh Cob Madoc Prince Edward.
Siena also has a solid foundation in eventing thanks to Pony Club. When she was 16, she bought a green OTTB named Tipsoo Lake, aka “T”, who became her upper level Pony Club mount as well as the horse to take her through her first successful training level event. Over the years, Siena has obtained many top finishes in the novice and training division on a variety of personal and client horses.
When not teaching at Equidae Farm, Siena travels to many different locations to teach and train. She is also the head instructor at the Mercer Island Saddle Club working with a variety of younger children, but has plenty of experience with all ages and levels. Siena stresses the importance of riding with intention and developing “feel” in her students; teaching them to be self-sufficient and thoughtful riders that can listen and react appropriately to their horses without constant instruction.
Siena has ridden with a multitude of instructors and clinicians, to include Debbie Dewitt, Andrea Lucianna, Marc Grandia, Matt Brown, Kim Severson, Noel Clark, Kathleen Raine, and many more. She takes regular lessons, as she believes you can never learn enough in this sport!
